The long-awaited reunion

Yesterday was the day I met her again - one of my oldest and bestest friends - Charlotte. I found her in Connecticut in the States a couple of weeks ago, and I'm sure it was just because of me that she flew all the way back to Sweden. Okay, she had a bachelorette party and a wedding to attend too, but I'm sure those were of minor importance.

She invited me over for dinner at her parents yesterday. I had a horrible experience with buses and trains, but I'll spare you my hate for Skånetrafiken and focus on what was to be a great evening. So, I arrived in Ystad and getting off the train my heart beat like crazy. I was so happy that this day had finally arrived. After all, we were really great friends when we were kids and we hadn't met in 23 years. And now she came skipping towards me and we reunited in a huge hug. Sort of like we'd never been away from each other at all.

Meeting her family again was great too. Her parents were just as I remembered them, just 23 years older. And her baby sister, who was only a couple of years when I last met her, was a bit older too. We had a great dinner, a great dessert, great wine, beer and played a game, which I won once.

It was sort of a strange experience - like going to a dinner to a family that you almost don't know, but still know their names and relations and stuff. Still it was never weird and we talked and laughed a lot.

It was almost sad to leave, but hey, some of have to work on weekdays! So, Charlotte and I went down to the train station in the warm, but rainy evening. A last hug, and then I was on my way back home to Malmö.

Today I have had a smile on my face all day. But I forgot to get a picture of us, and then I realized that Charlotte was going to Linköping today and that she'd have to have a short stop in Malmö, so I got to the Central station for a second reunion, this time with my camera.

And now she's gone again. But I'm sure we'll keep in touch this time. Well, at least I hope so.
